Clark College Funding was absolutely worth the investment!

Cum Laude MedalProper college planning is like using a tried and true recipe to cook a good meal.  The recipe is a step-by-step tool we use to make sure we are using the right ingredients, the proper portions, and the correct temperature when cooking to ensure the meal will turn out exactly how we want it.  College planning is very similar to a recipe.  If we forget any step of the recipe or try to improvise, many times we are disappointed with the results.  I honed my own college step-by-step “recipe” over the past decade working with over a thousand families to ensure success.  I created this step-by-step system to work for a family in any financial situation and any type of student.

I created the Cum Laude Plan to not only coach you on how to afford the college dream without going broke, but to ensure your success by working with me and my team!  Here’s how our Cum Laude Coaching Program works: It’s a step-by-step (walk-you-by-the-hand) program that is guaranteed to achieve predictable results for any type of student and family.  By the time you are done, your family will know what your child wants to study in college, which colleges would be a good fit for him or her, which colleges will offer you money (before he or she applies), and how to play the “College Aid Game” to get as much free money as possible!

The Cum Laude Plan services include the following:

#3 Quick Start Session (1st Coaching Meeting)

I am obsessed with customer service, so I believe one meeting is not enough to get off to the right start.  coachThis is a second level of customer service I provide my clients. This meeting will be held via face-to-face, video meeting, or by telephone with me.   During this meeting, I make sure you can log into the websites, explain how the process works, and discuss the “homework” for each family member so you start off on the right track and will be prepared for our future coaching sessions together.

#4 Goals Meeting and Calculate your EFC number (2nd Coaching Meeting)

After completing all assigned “homework” given in the previous Quick Start Meeting, I will meet with you again one-to-one to discuss two very crucial topics that are essential to your success:  college goals and your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number.

Only 37% of students in the United States graduate from college in 4yrs.  Have you every wondered why colleges collect payment up front before your son or daughter sets foot on campus? Why do colleges and universities not offer a money back guarantee?  There are many families today that are facing the reality of having a child attend college for a few years and then unexpectedly decide to quit college without receiving a college degree!  I know what you are thinking: “This will not happen to my family. Not my child.”  I hope you are right!

The college graduation statistics tell me that a large number of students do go off to college and never graduate.  Right now, there is a child in America informing his/her parents that he/she will not be returning to college.   These unfortunate families have just exhausted most, if not all of their college savings, accumulated debt, wasted valuable resources, and have a child that quit college with no degree! What a nightmare!

I will teach you the skills and techniques to make sure this nightmare does not happen to your family!  I will teach you how to guarantee your child will graduate from college and earn their degree.  This one lesson will pay for the entire cost of my coaching program!

The EFC number is the minimum amount of money the government says you can afford to pay for college.efccalc_lg   The lower your EFC number, the more financial aid you qualify for from the government and the schools.   Wouldn’t it be wise to know your family’s EFC number before the government tells you what you can pay?  More importantly, do you know how low your EFC number could be?  Do you know, in many cases, you can legally and ethically reduce your EFC number, to increase the amount of aid that you receive?  In this meeting we will calculate and review your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number using both the Federal Methodology and the Institutional Methodology.   If possible, I will also give you specific recommendations to reduce your EFC number and maximize your financial aid eligibility.  I want to make sure you have every strategy possible to reduce the amount of MONEY you pay for college!

#5 Career Goal Assessment

Are you surprised that 80% of all students change their major in college?  Did you know, on average, Career Dimensionscollege students change their major 3 TIMES over the course of their college careers?  Do you think changing majors will increase the amount of time your child is in school?  If so, how will this affect the cost of college?

If you were like me when I was in high school, I had no idea what I wanted to study in college.  It is very hard for teenagers to know all the careers that are available to them because they have not been exposed to those careers and opportunities.  I cannot eliminate the possibility that your child will not change their major in college.  However, I can drastically reduce the chance of that happening by giving them a career assessment test.  This is the first step to finding a good college fit and college planning success!  You will be given access to an online aptitude/attitude program designed to confirm or discover a student’s career goals.  The Career Goal Assessment (MCP) is an interactive career exploration and education planning system made specifically for high school students.  It is designed to confirm and discover a student’s possible career goals and the pursuit of an appropriate major.  Conceivably, this can reduce the overall cost of a higher education by making a bachelor’s degree attainable in the normal four year time frame.  In addition, you child will know what careers they like, enjoy, and excel in after completing the MCP.

#9 Start a plan to pay for college:  (5th Coaching Meeting)

Do you have a plan to pay for college?  Will it put you in the poor house? Is your plan the most tax ID-10053900efficient way to pay for college?  Wouldn’t you like a plan to maximize merit aid and need based aid?  Even if you have saved all your life to pay for college, wouldn’t you like to use some of the college’s own endowment money instead of yours to help pay for college?

I will start by reviewing your current plan, your CPA’s recommended plan, or your financial planner’s recommended plan to pay for college with you.  I have personally worked with over a thousand families and have seen almost every way to pay for college.  Since I work for you and not a bank, financial planning firm, or other financial institution, I will give you an unbiased review of your current plan to pay for college. In this meeting we will analyze any coordination gaps that currently exist.

If you are like most Americans and have no plan to pay for college, that is okay.  We will start to develop a plan to pay for ALL YOUR CHILDREN to graduate from college without affecting your current lifestyle or retirement plans.  This first step of comprehensive data gathering and clear development of your college funding goals is essential for removing the 800 lb. gorilla of paying for college off your shoulders.

#10 Finalizing Your Plan to pay for college (6th Coaching Meeting)

It is important that you understand that I work strictly on a confidential basis with families like ID-10064237yourself.  Many of my clients have very competent existing advisors, such as financial planners and CPAs, who have already helped them with a certain level of college planning.  If most of my clients have competent advisors and have done some level of planning, why would they hire me to finalize their plan?  Since these advisors are not fully trained and experienced in college planning, most often it is the lack of understanding of the complexities of the financial aid system, tax laws, scholarships/grants, and how to work within the system legally and ethically to maximize college aid.  In addition, most families want me to take their existing planning to the next level to uncover every opportunity to reduce the cost of college.

I will be reviewing your entire financial picture at one time (just like the colleges and the government will be doing).  I will look at your financial situation on a cross-disciplinary basis; not just from the financial aid or college planning perspective, but across the board.  This unique perspective allows me to identify both coordination gaps and opportunities to develop a college plan for your entire family.

In this meeting, I will present a full range of alternatives for you to consider.  I will present the strategic plan that we’ve agreed will help you best achieve your goals, maximize financial aid, and graduate your child(ren) from college.  Your plan is custom designed and all of my recommendations will be reviewed and discussed in this meeting.  My clients have found that the difference between having the work done, and having it done as well as possible, can literally mean  hundreds of thousands of dollars in college savings, depending on your situation.

#11 Implementing Your Plan to pay for college (7th Coaching Meeting: Optional)ID-10088219

If you would like, and most families do, I can help you implement your plan.  This is where I help ensure that your college plan is put into action and that each component is professionally coordinated and fully integrated.

#15 Financial Aid Forms Completion

The Department of Education found that between 80% to 90% of all families who complete the financialSAR aid forms, do so incorrectly.  Most Americans wrongly believe that they make too much money to receive any aid, so they do not complete the financial aid forms.  We also know that it is easy to make a mistake on the forms and miss a deadline date.  We hope by helping you complete these forms for you for the first year, we can help reduce your stress and burden.

In this coaching program, we educate and instruct you on how to position yourself and your child to get as much free money as possible.  I would not want you to ruin your chances of getting free college money by completing the financial aid forms incorrectly.  To make sure this does not happen, we will complete the college’s need-based forms (FAFSA, CSS Profile) and the college’s own institutional financial aid forms for you for the first year.  While the CSS Profile form is more complicated than the FAFSA, the data on each form has to be consistent.  Moreover, all institutional financial aid forms are completed by hand by our team to ensure accuracy.

Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – This form must be completed to qualify for Federal aid, most State Programs, and is often required for institutional merit-based aid. This form is completed electronically and is normally filed twice for the client: Once as an estimate and second as a final filing after subsequent tax returns have been completed for the year.

Financial Aid Profile (FAP) Registration/Completion – Registration for the Financial Aid CSS Profile (FAP) is included in this service. This form is required by some colleges for financial aid consideration and is more complicated than the FAFSA. It is critical that information reported on both forms be consistent. Profile registration as well as the application itself are completed electronically for the family. The additional cost of filing incurred by the College Board is the responsibility of the client family.

*Please note: We do not file two sets of financials in non-custodial situations, and we do not file the business / farm supplement. Our service does not include the completion of verification forms.

#22 College Admission Test Preparation

Are you surprised that some colleges give about the same weight to the SAT/ACT score as your child’s entire ID-10093658high school GPA? Do you think it is worth spending a few minutes each day to study for these tests?

Many times I have been told by my students that they do not have the time to study for the SAT/ACT and that studying for these tests are boring!  To help solve these issues, I looked for an online test program that is very interactive to keep my students from getting bored.  I also wanted a test prep program that was geared specifically toward each student so it did not waste their time.  Moreover, I wanted a test prep program that had a proven record of getting results!

I found the perfect solution in ePrep.  This program was designed by Princeton University graduates and they have changed how students in the U.S. study for this test.  In ePrep all the coursework is completed online so it can be completed at any time during the day and anywhere in the world.  To get great results from ePrep, it only takes about 20 minutes a day, but more study time is encouraged.  Also, ePrep will pre-test your child  so it can build a study guide covering only the specific needs of your child and not waste their time studying questions they already know.  The program also has a very insightful video professor that allows your child to see, hear, and read the professor correctly solving problems (hits all 3 areas of learning).  This interaction with the child helps keep them from getting bored.  I am able to include this in our program because we leverage the number of students we work with each year to purchase this program in bulk and I want to pass these savings on to you!  In the Magna Cum Laude Program, you are offered one test prep program. You choose either the SAT or the ACT ePrep course.

Best Test Scores = Better Awards

#3 Quick Start Session (1st Coaching Meeting)

I am obsessed with customer service, so I believe one meeting is not enough to get off to the right start.  coachThis is a second level of customer service I provide my clients. This meeting will be held via face-to-face, video meeting, or by telephone with me.   During this meeting, I make sure you can log into the websites, explain how the process works, and discuss the “homework” for each family member so you start off on the right track and will be prepared for our future coaching sessions together.

#4 Goals Meeting and Calculate your EFC number (2nd Coaching Meeting)

After completing all assigned “homework” given in the previous Quick Start Meeting, I will meet with you again one-on-one to discuss two very crucial topics that are essential to your success:  college goals and your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) number.

In addition, your child will know what careers they like, enjoy, and excel in after completing the MCP.

#6 Enrollment Management Meeting (3rd Coaching Meeting)

Forget the old strategies that were taught to you about getting financial assistance for college.  The college higher-education-enrollment-managementgame changed and there is no reason why you can’t receive college aid and have every reason to learn how. In this one-on-one coaching meeting, I will teach you how colleges distribute financial aid today and how you will be one of these families receiving aid when you implement my strategies that I will be teaching you! This is my favorite meeting and the most important.  This meeting is essential to reducing the cost of college and paying the wholesale price.  Mastering this information is so essential to your success that I have included an instructional video study guide to make sure every family understands these strategies on how to play this college aid game.  You will be right beside me in this video lesson as I speak with one of my coaching clients.   During our one-on-one meeting and instructional video lesson, you’ll learn what colleges don’t want you to know!  You’ll also gain insight on how to use these secrets to save thousands of dollars in college cost! #9 Student Position Supplemental Meeting

Happy Staff

I have noticed that sometimes after speaking with my counselors a child will change their mind on what they are looking for in a college.  This happens when after visiting a few colleges the child thinks a campus is too large/small or they change what they want to study in college or they want to be closer home or they want to be farther from home and many other reasons.  If this happens to your child, we are ready to help.  As a supplement to the original college selection student positioning meeting, my counselors will speak with you again to perform a second, third, or even fourth student positioning session until you have a college list that is the perfect fit for your child.  This new meeting is an interactive, follow-up phone conference, as a means to revisit with the student and to further encourage and foster our commitment to excellence during the college selection process.  My highly experienced team is at your call to answer any question or concerns you might have concerning college planning.  If you have more questions after meeting with my counselor or if you have a general question about college planning, you have access to them until your child graduates from high school!

#10 Start a plan to pay for college:  (5th Coaching Meeting)

In this meeting, we will analyze any coordination gaps that currently exist.

#11 Finalizing Your Plan to pay for college (6th Coaching Meeting)

It is important that you understand that I work strictly on a confidential basis with families like ID-10064237yourself.  Many of my clients have very competent existing advisors, such as financial planners and CPAs, who have already helped them with a certain level of college planning.  If most of my clients have competent advisors and have done some level of planning, why would they hire me to finalize their plan?  Since these advisors are not fully trained and experienced in college planning, most often it is the lack of understanding of the complexities of the financial aid system, tax laws, scholarships/grants, and how work within system legally and ethically to maximize college aid.

This form is required by some colleges for financial aid consideration and is more complicated than the FAFSA. It is critical that information reported on both forms be consistent. #24 College Admission Test Preparation (Summa members only are given access to both the ACT and SAT Prompter program)

In the Summa Cum Laude plan you are given access to both the ACT and SAT Prompter program offered by ePrep!

Best Test Scores = Better Awards
